Black Lives Matter
Last night, we marched through our neighborhood in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. And (wow!) just now as I start to write this, there's another peaceful-energetic protest, proudly passing by the apartment. The incessant sound of sirens for the past 70+ days, has been replaced by the steady drone of helicopters, ominously watching, intimidating and too close. Our collective & palpable fear of getting sick by going outside, has become outrage over senseless deaths from inequity we can no longer tolerate. WTF with the lack of regard for human life! People need to be able to go about their business without the constant fear of being killed by those empowered to "protect". And then there's the disproportionate COVID-related deaths among the black community. We cannot sit idly by. We need reform -equality and justice for all. We need to stand together. We need to use our power to help those less powerful than ourselves.
On the company social cause front, Scully's is donating Hand Sanity to essential workers and food banks, and Hand Sanity & Scully's deodorant to battered women shelters. We will continue this effort. We are working on better educating ourselves and our children. What we're doing isn't enough, but it's a start and we will keep on fighting the good fight.
